These quests are limited by time, as well as the resources available to player. The bulk of the quests in the game requiring hunting one or more of the larger monsters that can inhabit the areas, and ending the quest by killing or trapping the creature. Some quests allow the player to explore the area as long as they want to accumulate goods, while other quests have the player attempt to slay a number of smaller creatures. The player can explore through these areas, taking the time to accumulate materials such as ores, bugs, and plant parts used to make gear and potions, or by slaying creatures throughout the areas. When on a quest, the player is taken to a remote location made up of several smaller areas, where both passive and aggressive creatures roam. The game allows the player to use any of the twelve basic weapon types in the game, each having unique battle approaches that the player must master, and can switch between these weapons before departing on quests. The player's character does not intrinsically improve over the course of the game, but their abilities are set by the weapon and armor they carry into the quests, which improve as the player takes on more challenging quests. As they proceed through these quests, they will gain various items, in-game money, and other rewards that are used to craft new weapons, armor, additional gear, and health, restoration, and temporary buffing items that can be taken into later quests. Fuck I don't even know how these look anymore. As with the other games in the series, Monster Hunter 4 has the player take the role of a fresh Hunter that undertakes quests and challenges to hunt dangerous creatures that inhabit various locales. I don't even want to go into a game because I just know I'll fuck up when it's time for sleep bombs or somewhere else. I got rekt by that Leshen like a noob and now I feel bad, and I feel more overwhelmed than when I started the game as my first MonHun for the first time for some reason. What elements are useful against what monster. How even to time attacks without getting smacked in the face every single combo attempt. What weapons I even have (and I have a shitton, I'm glad I at least got my loadouts saved up). The resource center, what food to cook, what decorations I was farming before I stopped. How is that possible? I got sent back and realized I forgot everything about even the most basic things. Because I got poisoned but didn't find an antidote anywhere.Īnd then it dawned on me. I died to the fucking Leshen or whatever that is. Elder Dragons solo in 5 mins, no problem. Now, seriously, back then I mowed down shit with my Divine Slasher for breakfast. Turns out those are the DLC and I stumbled into the Witcher one. After like 20 minutes I got it down again (I thought) and went for one of the blue marks. So I just went into the training room to get at least the Long Sword right again. Blue marks everywhere, everyone thanks me for something I appearently did way back or something that happened while I was away, 5 or so monsters I've never fought before.I had no clues about the controls anymore, or the item icons, or where the fuck anything is. Well, here I am, getting hyped by all the monsters shown for Iceborne, and I have no fucking clue what's going on. After 80 Odogarons without a gem, the 40 or so gold Deviljho expeditions without one broke the straw. But I stopped a few weeks after Deviljho came out because I got sick of the bad luck the rng gods put on me. I had every single spawn point of every monster down and knew every map like my own backyard. For reference, I played 300 hours, I farmed the shit out of this game.
